MEET OUR creative TEAM

Grymm Studios prides itself on character and talent. We work with the very best, and work together to create the magic that we want to see in the world. "We are not  defined by the walls around us. We are defined by what we see beyond those walls, and how we get there."
Joey Marsocci
Proprietor & Creative Director

Originally from Rhode Island, Joey attended California Institute of the Arts where he received his BFA in Film & Animation as well as Theme Park Design. Joey's love for storytelling and arts of all kinds, has led him down a path of not only education and teaching arts, but using his talents to build a more creative world.
He is also an advocate for Mental Health Acceptance by
curating an annual fundraising art exhibit with a focus on "Finding Art Through Trauma", and uses his social media platforms to be a voice for Autism Awareness.

Joey, now residing in Connecticut,  is a world renowned  artist for his publications and award-winning art exhibits in the area of Steampunk Art and Design.

Shawn Murray
Assistant Creative Director
The newest member of the Grymm Studios team, Shawn Murray (he/him) has been an actor, director, mentor, and improv performer in Connecticut for over twenty years, after attending SCSU for Theatre. His experience with the performing arts has led him all around Connecticut where he has found a great deal of unity, collaboration, and kinship within the community.

He strives to uphold these values, and to do his part in ensuring that theater is accessible, safe, and welcoming to all. Not one to shy away from a challenge, he takes great pride in mentoring; where he can help find strength in the weakness, calm in the chaos and light in the dark.

Shawn began his journey at Grymm Studios as a performer in 2024, and quickly showed his natural creativity, leadership, and multiple other talents on stage and off! Additionally, his love for puns made him an immediate good fit for our chaotically, magic little world!

Rachel Sclare
Assistant Event Director  & Media Support

Rachel's work in the non-profit and art exhibit arena has made her essential in creating our award winning events and exhibits over the past 8 years! Her never-ending support and passion for our events, is the heart of what we do!

Rachel has a Masters of Science in Expressive Therapies, specializing in Art Therapy. She believes that art is both the process and the product; equally vested in both.

She has been involved in the Hartford and Connecticut art scenes, both as an artist and as a curator. She is the co-founder of Art+Soul Hartford, and Director of Awesomeness for the Veterans Art Foundation. She is asked every year to create artwork for Art for AIDS. She resides in central Connecticut with her partner and their 3 rescue cats. She’s a little obsessed with the Moon.

Brendan Wilson
Assistant  Fabricator & Site Logistics

Working as a product owner by day, Brendan works by night as a prop maker and fabricator, working in mixed media, as well as building out his growing farm of 3D printers. He has a deep appreciation for historical costuming, and enjoys mixing that style into his cosplay and costumes. He is also an award winning cosplayer, and works closely with his wife to bring both of their creative ideas to life.

Brendan has worked with Grymm Studios since 2013, helping to build new and amazing props, sculptures and attractions! His up-beat attitude is only second to being reliable, hard working, always kind, and able to keep things on track during chaos!  He enjoys being able to help bring some of the new and amazing creative ideas that this team creates, to life!

Claudia Isabel
Lead Creative Writer & Imagination Liaison

Claudia Isabel (she/hers) is Connecticut based playwright, performer, and arts educator. She attended Seton Hall University where she pursued degrees in both Theatre and Creative Writing. Post graduation, Claudia put her degrees and her mind to work and has since written multiple plays which have been performed in CT, NY, and NJ. Her goal is to take people on a journey through storytelling that gives them reprieve from the world as well as show new perspectives.

An educator in the public school system for five years, Claudia now takes her experience and applies it to teaching students of all ages in the arts. Here at GRYMM, you'll find her tinkering away at our newest scripts, laughing the loudest at every joke told in the studio, and always asking questions on everyone's creative process.

Claudia feels that the arts is what brings out the common humanity in all of us, and that collaboration is the key to understanding one another!

"Making sure a garment flows together, whether it is
made from different fabrics or materials, is essential."
Kathryn Paterwic
Costume Design & Production

Kathryn, A.K.A. Redfield Design has spent  10 years teaching high school students what it takes to be a professional seamstress as well as the ins and outs of technical theater. Now she spends her time building award winning cosplays and traveling around the US Competing and judging Cosplay contests. She encourages everyone she meets to be creative and think outside the box!

Redfield loves breathing life into two dimensional characters, creating a living entity, tethered to this universe with details she pulls from history and her research. Her costumes span popular culture, literature, folklore, legends or a mashup of all of these.  She believes that the details are key and helps the audience suspend disbelief. Anything from accessories, cuffs on a sleeve and the shape of a skirt, to prop weapons and armor, can all work together to give cohesion and maintain the illusion of a costume. Redfield and Grymm have been colleagues since 2010, in the early days of Steampunk in the Connecticut scene, and there will be much more creativity, as she she stitches her magic with Grymm Studios!

James Marsocci
Audio Designer & Engineer

James is a recent graduate with a Bachelor's and Associates Degrees in Science for Digital Media Production from CCRI. He is the newest member of the Grymm Studios team, though he has been an inspiration to the owner since the day he was born!

His interests include Audio Design/Engineering, Voice Acting & Visual Effects, which allow for our productions to have professional and  stellar atmospheric sound-scapes to set the mood for our stories! His hobbies include cosplay, video games (Zelda, Bloodborne, Persona), music (heavy metal, classic rock, alternative), and Anime/Manga (Violet Evergarden, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, RWBY).

"All of my life, I've been surrounded by inspirations, personal and online, and as I experienced and watched everything...I always learned. Then as I grew older and met more and more people I had grown up listening to, I realized that I wanted to try and give that joy to others through the work I love."
